Farm House

01overview

A new home in the Colonial Revival style on the lake

This new Colonial Revival home is set on a lake with acres of equestrian paddocks and meadows surrounding the main house. The client wanted a home that would serve as a family compound for all generations. The focus is on a large, open entertaining space, as well as private areas and niches throughout the house, such as the reading nook over looking the main family room.

We recommended an historically inspired home in a regional colonial style with an attached barn to handle the large open spaces. A barn silo was created to house an observatory. The home was also designed to take advantage of the views to the lake. Upon entering the home, you can see the lake from the front door and throughout as you pass through the spaces.

To enjoy the outdoors, the home has abundant outdoor entertaining areas, and generous covered porches lead to open stone terraces overlooking the lake.

The interior styling of the shared spaces relates to the section of the house in which it is contained.  The open barn section also allows you the ability to experience the Historic Farmhouse from the interior. This gives you a sense of place in the home.
